Industrial Photography is a photography niche focused on serving businesses within the industrial sector. This may include engineering companies, manufacturers, factories, high-tech start-ups etc. The common thread is that it usually involves companies who produce products requiring large scale machinery and/or facilities. It can involve being in quite dirty and hazardous conditions, such as a saw-
mill for example. Equally, it could involve being in very clean environments such as food production lines
or drinks manufacturers.
Who should you hire?
An industrial photographer should have an eye for detail and be able to generate interest out of everyday / normal machines. This means that the photos need to be more like a piece of art rather than just specialized images. For instance, an expert will photograph an everyday, regular and ordinary conveyor belt in a way which would generate interest by highlighting specific areas and blurring out the background. These images when laid out on commercial advertising material like a brochure will tell the story of the process.
Enhancing your online image
Photography of machines and processes for each medium i.e. internet and print are slightly different. It requires a slightly different approach but an expert with years of experience will know which approach to take in order to ensure that the pictures communicate exactly what the business needs to get the desired result.
Style Of Photography
A series of photographs may also be created by an industrial photographer in order to document an industrial process. This may mean taking photographs for each step needed to manufacture a product or photographs that show each part of a factory, refinery, or power plant. Large construction projects can also be documented through a series of photographs taken by an industrial photographer.
The photographs not only need to be shiny with balanced hues and highlights but also need to effectively communicate the meaning in less in a second.
